Discusses and transcribes the open letter of Antonio Becerra Díaz and Manuel M. Restori, two painters and former pupils of the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes (Mexico City), to Miguel Baranda, minister of justice and public education, calling for changes in the school's management, policies, and teaching; the letter (which appears to have been without effect) casts light on the state of art at the Academia in the late 19th c.
