Abstract (en)

Examines the links between the Bow porcelain manufactory under the direction of the painter Thomas Frye and theatrical performers and musical personnel in London, focusing on figurines made primarily in the 1750s representing popular actors, including Kitty Clive, Henry Woodward, Peg Woffington and David Garrick. Also mentions works commissioned by the poet and librettist Moses Mendez, as well as pieces created in 1759 commemorating Handel upon his death.
