Exchange of letters between Kelly and Tait, concerning Tait's earlier article (Ars Ceramica, 1992, 9) identifying a tazza-shaped ceramic dish with drain holes and a hollow foot as a cheese stand. Kelly suggests instead that the object was intended as a dried-fruit stand, in which fruits such as raisins or currants that had been soaked in brandy or liqueur would be drained, reserving the liquid for later use in a sauce. Tait remains unconvinced of this identification.
