Abstract (en)

Surveys the events of the Piero della Francesca year (1992-93), drawing attention to the failure of most of the books on Piero to take into account recent discoveries regarding his early life (finds Lightbown's book the only one that can be recommended). Also reviews the exhibition of the recently restored group by Verrocchio from Orsanmichele, Florence; as well as the two-part exhibition of Francesco di Giorgio's painting, sculpture, and architecture in S. Agostino and the Palazzo Pubblico, Siena (summer, 1993).
