Describes contributions to the second Europa-Biennale held in August and September, 1993, in the nearly abandoned village of Pritzen in the Niederlausitz region, south of Cottbus, which was devastated by extensive coal mining beginning in the early years of this century. The site-specific sculptural works included in the Biennale deal with the political, ideological and environmental issues surrounding this area of Germany. Among the artists represented are S. Bolduan, Z. Polus, P. Kroke, H. Prigann, P.F. Strauss and M. Engelhardt.
