Abstract (en)

Outlines the preliminary work towards full implementation of the Art and Architecture Thesaurus as a replacement for in-house headings in the library of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. It will be implemented as an integrated online resource supporting the work of cataloguers and extending subject searching on the library's online public access catalogue. The relationship between the online thesaurus and the local authority file, the planned implementation and its effect upon the user interface and the project to map in-house subject headings to AAT subject strings are described.
