Abstract (en)
Calls attention to two 17th c. Antwerp drawings, both traceable to the collection of Pierre Crozat in the 18th c. The first is a study for the figure of Neptune in the Quos Ego design, by Rubens (Germany, private collection), which can be dated to 1635. The second is a drawing by Paul Pontius after Rubens's self-portrait in Canberra (Cologne, private collection), which probably served as preparatory study for Pontius's famous 1630 engraved portrait of the Antwerp master.
