Catalogue published in conjunction with an exhibition of 62 paintings of battle scenes, along with related military portraits and genre scenes, mostly Flemish and Dutch. Includes essays on the French and Flemish tradition of battle imagery, on the works in the collection and on the costumes in the paintings. Artists represented include Frans Francken II, Jan Brueghel the elder and the younger, Adam Frans van der Meulen, Pieter Snayers and Sebastiaen Vrancx. Full entries for exhibited works.
