Exhibition catalogue contains the following: 16 reminiscences on the Stangls and their Munich gallery, founded in 1947; catalogue entries for 261 paintings, drawings, collages, and prints; and nine essays by Carla Schulz-Hoffmann, Cathrin Klingsöhr, Klaus Lankheit, Erich Franz, Vivian Endicott Barnett, Michael Semff, Ulrich Bischoff, and Markus Ewel. The catalogue entries are arranged in five sections: Der Blaue Reiter; Expressionism; classical modernism; ZEN 49 and Informel; and Antes, Corneille, Fruhtrunk, Hockney, and Jochims. The essays discuss Paul Klee, Franz Marc, Kandinsky, ZEN 49, artists' books, Otto Stangl's relations with sculptors, and the development of modernism as reflected in the Stangl collection.
