Discusses the influence of Dutch art and culture on the Czech artist, who resided in the Netherlands from 1914 to 1920. Comments on his political activities, his relationship with van Doesburg, his interest in 17th c. Dutch art, especially Rembrandt, and his commitment to cubism. (Appendices publish correspondence between Filla and van Doesburg).
