The original 13th c. arch was built as the outer element of the gatehouse of an Augustinian priory. Surviving fragments, together with a Samuel Buck drawing, South View of Repton Abbey...1727 (Oxford, Bodleian Library), provide enough evidence to reconstruct the appearance of the gatehouse before its demolition. Since 1557 the reconstructed arch has formed the entrance to Repton School. The tithe barn is also described; the date of construction is unknown.
