Analyzes the iconography of two drawings by Vasari in the Graphische Sammlung of the Städelsches Kunstinstitut und Städtische Galerie, Frankfurt am Main: Allegory of Liberality and Wedding Banquet of Esther and Ahasuerus. The first drawing was previously identified as a study for the decorative apparatus of the entry (1536) of the Holy Roman Emperor, Charles V in Florence. Identifies the second as a study for the painting (commissioned 1548) now in the Museo statale, Arezzo, and discusses other preparatory drawings (Florence, Uffizi) for the same work.
