Abstract (en)
Discusses the phenomenon of architectonic rock formations that suggest the actual metamorphosis of natural rock into architecture, in 15th c. painting from Ferrara. Traces the artistic idea to Francesco Squarcione, and Filippo Lippi. Argues that the stimulus came from the Aristotelian milieu around the University of Padua.
