Reports on a field survey carried out on Monte Serra, Elba, Mar 1992, aimed at identifying Medieval iron-working sites (including the mining village of Grassera, destroyed by raiders in the 16th c.). Focuses on evidence concerning the church of S. Quirico, a 12th c. Romanesque church converted into a farmhouse in the 19th c., and the 17th c. hermitage of S. Caterina, both in the Comune of Rio nell'Elba.
