Reports results of excavations at the site of the castle of Squillace, which revealed evidence of Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Norman domination, followed by decline in the mid- to late 11th c., and periods of resettlement, 13th-18th cs. Imposing defensive structures of the Byzantine and Norman periods were uncovered, as well as remains of the tower keep, and of the late 14th-early 15th c. palace.
