Survey of court architecture in Lorraine in the early 18th c., a period characterized by tensions between France and the Holy Roman Empire and close religious and artistic ties with Rome. Focuses on projects by Boffrand for Leopold I: the palaces of Lunéville and Nancy and the maison de plaisance of La Malgrange; and on the transformation of La Malgrange under Stanislas Leszczyński.
