Notes that in the 1970s and 80s Argentines were more sellers than buyers on the international art market, owing to economic instability and hyperinflation; and that since 1991 the stabilization and privatization program of President Menem has improved the business climate and given new impetus to the art market. Provides a survey of the art market in Buenos Aires, with brief accounts of some of the principal galleries and dealers.
