Abstract (en)
Studies Crashaw's poems on S. Teresa, arguing that his "The flaming Heart, Upon the booke and picture of Teresa" was inspired by a painting of the saint in ecstasy by Gerhard Seghers (Bruges, English Convent), 1626-1630. Sheds light on some of the poem's imagery through an interpretation of this and other representations of S. Teresa.
