Narrates the events surrounding the selection of new designs for British coins, 1991-1992. Discusses the role of the Royal Mint Advisory Committee on the Design of Coins, Medals, Seals and Decorations, which recommended two sets of designs; one of these was categorically rejected by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Norman Lamont, causing dissent and disappointment among other members of the committee.
