Abstract (en)
Recently, a series of frescos found in a former palace built for Cardinal Gerolamo Simoncelli was briefly mentioned by Alberto Satolli and attributed to Nebbia on stylistic grounds. The Palazzo Simoncelli is located in the village of Torre San Severo; it was most recently used for grain storage but now stands empty. There are three compositional drawings attributable to Nebbia on grounds of style which can be firmly identified as preparatory to the Palazzo Simoncelli decorations. Although the relationship of the drawings to the frescos cannot prove Nebbia's authorship of the latter, they surely make it very likely. The frescos must date after 1553 and before 1605, perhaps ca.1573.
