Examines the possible influence of Italian and especially French examples on the design of the castle, built in the first decade of the 17th c. by Georg Ridinger for the Archbishop Johann Schweikart von Kronberg. Considers the architectural publications of Jacques I Androuet Ducerceau as a possible source for Ridinger.
