Argues that the evidence of the stained glass of the cathedral of Troyes--specifically, the little-known grisaille windows, here differentiated and dated in relation to the figural windows--establishes that there were two early campaigns, dated ca.1200 and ca.1210-1220s, and justifies the characterization of the first campaign as regional and the second as influenced by Parisian models. Also studies the interior sculpture cycle, focusing on the eight figures of bishops; interprets these as reflecting the ascendancy of the church in the political context of the early 13th c. in Troyes.
