Presents results of the survey of the ruined house and garden earthworks. Field evidence is summarised and complemented by documentary history which sketches the origins and status of the house and provides a context for the gardens. Four main building phases were identified during the 17th, later 18th, and 19th cs. The earliest recognisable remains of a coherent and datable scheme for the garden and park were 18th c., on stylistic grounds.
