Abstract (en)
Reexamines results of the excavation carried out in the 1930s which interpreted the site as an early Bronze Age bowl barrow with subsequent cremations of similar but slightly later date, and finally deposits of Saxon inhumations and Saxon urned cremations. Suggests that the evidence of finds tends to argue against a prehistoric barrow, and the only part of the interpretation which is incontrovertible relates to the Saxon evidence.
