Excavations were conducted on two areas within the medieval borough of Bunratty. Archaeological deposits of 13th and 14th c. date were located near the old parish church where features uncovered included pits, a hearth and two possible field boundaries. A ditch enclosing the ridge on the north and west, thought to be part of the medieval defences, is an enclosure of 17th c. date.
