Examines the style, manufacture and technique of two types of jewellery from Kievan Rus, 11th and 12th c. gold, cloisonné medallion chains and temple pendants (kólti), now in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum, New York. A Byzantine enamelled temple pendant, also in the Metropolitan Museum, attributed to a workshop in Constantinople, is discussed as a comparison.
