Analyzes the Mannerist architecture and architectural symbolism of the fortified hunting lodge, the Château de Maulnes (architect unknown), Cruzy-le-Châtel, commissioned in 1566 by Antonine de Crussol. Finds that the design is pervaded by the iconography of the Five Senses, and compares this concept to Rabelais's Abbaye Thélème in Gargantua.
