Surveys the practice of drawing and watercolor among aristocratic British amateurs from the mid-18th c. when it became fashionable to the to mid-19th c. when photography began to replace it. Considers the role of professional watercolorists as teachers, and examples by some of the better known amateurs, together with a view of the market for these works.
