In 1947, J. Lyons & Company commissioned 16 lithographs from as many British artists to decorate its chain of tea shops. Considers the series as exemplary of a little-documented period of art and culture in post-war Britain. The series was supervised by Jack Beddington and Barnett Freedman, and included works by Duncan Grant, Laurence Stephen Lowry and John Nash among others.
