Survey of architectural developments in Riyadh, 1950s-1990s, focusing on the two currents of traditionalism and modernism. Observes that modernism was never totally accepted in Saudi Arabia, nor were its aesthetics understood, which led to practices comparable to those of post-modernism well before the emergence of that style in the West.
