Highlights the way in which commercial and financial links between Italian silk firms and international merchants and manufacturers were able to develop in the first half of the 19th c. and to contribute to a better knowledge of the Italian silk producer's role on international markets. A case study is analyzed, that of a Tuscan silk firm, the Scotis of Pescia.
