Abstract (en)

Discusses the theological treatise with schematic illustrations which was composed by Van Veen and published, perhaps in Brussels, in 1621. Author describes this as an attempt to combine theological speculation with concepts of Man's nature which derive from Paracelsus. Geissmar concludes that Van Veen's combination of picture and text, which the latter seems to have evolved from his own emblem books, remains unique in the illustration of creation, and is especially unexpected coming as it does from a Catholic context.
