Studies German folk glass painting, known as Hinterglasmalerei, ca.1750 to World War I. Emphasizes the gradual replacement of these religious images after ca.1850 by factory-produced chromolithographs, and the subsequent transition of glass painting to a tourist-oriented occupation. Some attention is given to the discovery of folk glass painting by artists of the Blue Rider circle in the years before World War I.
