Abstract
(en)
Surveys the approach to nature and natural history taken by surrealist artists, focusing on Ernst's print series Histoire naturelle, 1925. Places these works in the context of traditional scientific writings and illustration from the 16th c. on, and examines works by Kandinsky, Klee, Dubuffet and Wols that reflect similar interests to Ernst's.
