Discusses the history and condition of the so-called Torre di Massimiliano on Sant'Erasmo, Venice, built by the Austrians in 1832 on the site of an earlier tower. Links the typology of the tower with fortifications (1831) designed by Archduke Maximilian Joseph von Österreich-Este for the city of Linz.
