Publishes documentary evidence identifying Richard Holden (act.1658, d.1709) as the maker of the harquebus armour consisting of helmet, breastplate, backplate, and gauntlet, made for James II (London, Tower of London, Armouries) in 1686, the last surviving armour made for an English monarch for practical use. Includes an account of Holden's career.
