Describes the rare folio volume by Du Camp (1852) in the Royal Library, Copenhagen, which contains the first photographic account from the Middle East--Egypt, Nubia, Palestine and Syria. The French photographer was accompanied in his travels by his friend, Gustave Flaubert.
