Abstract (en)

Presents a Russian icon acquired by the Nationalmuseum, Stockholm, in 1990. The piece, which retains its original shaft, depicts on its obverse the image of Mary designated God's Mother of the Sign, and on its reverse the ascent of Elijah. The frame edges show SS. Nicholas and Vlasy. Includes brief discussions of iconography, use, painting technique and state of preservation.
