Transcript of the panel discussion on assemblage held at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, 19 Oct 1961, in conjunction with the exhibition, The art of assemblage; participants were Lawrence Alloway, Marcel Duchamp, Richard Huelsenbeck, Robert Rauschenberg, and Roger Shattuck; includes an introduction by Shattuck recalling the symposium, particularly William Seitz's theory of assemblage and its connection to Dada, Shattuck's own notion of the mode of juxtaposition, and Duchamp's statement apropos of readymades.
