Catalogue of the collection of musical instruments (including all objects used to produce sound) of the national museum of folk arts in Rome, accompanied by introductory chapters by Diego Carpitella on aspects of the study of the instruments; Paola Elisabetta Simeoni on ethno-organological writings in Italy, 1882-1989; Roberta Tucci on the question of which instruments are ethnically Italian; and Tucci again on the history of the museum and its collection. The reviewer finds the volume exemplary in every respect and commends the illustrations particularly.
