Suggests that the composition for Caillebotte's painting of 1876 in the Musée du Petit Palais, Geneva, may be derived from a color woodcut of 1858 by Hiroshige, Cotton-goods Lane, Ōdenma-chō. In addition, a photograph (private collection) of Caillebotte and his dog in the courtyard of the Louvre, taken ca.1876 by his brother Martial, appears to have been employed, with a few changes, in the painting.
