Abstract (en)

Draws attention to the gap between the avant-garde and art education in the United States and considers proposals for a new paradigm, based on postmodern reconstructivism, and a new pedagogy, based on postmodern media studies, which would involve interdisciplinary emphasis on the integration of social studies, political awareness and aesthetics, combined with hands-on production techniques and willingness to incorporate popular culture as subject matter.
