Abstract (en)

Argues that medieval art historical literature (primarily ca.1900-1930), reflects Ruskin's mid 19th c. bias against "architectural deceits" by generally dismissing the tradition of wooden vaulting in English gothic architecture, considering it an inferior imitation of stone vaulting.
