Abstract (en)

Catalogue of the exhibition held at the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas (formerly the Academia de S. Carlos), Mexico City, in 1989, of didactic casts of human and animal anatomy and of ancient and modern sculpture, from the collection formed by the Academia and of drawings after these dated 1779-1911, executed mainly by students at the Academia. Includes an account of the history of the collection of casts, an essay on the role of casts in teaching at the Academia, and a list of 437 casts acquired by the Academia between its founding in 1781 and 1914.
