Reconstruction of this sculpture gallery, which consisted mainly of ancient Roman works, evokes the cultural milieu surrounding antiquities in the 17th c. Detailed inventory descriptions reveal aesthetic concepts behind the display and convey a sense of its splendor. Introduces the better-known pieces, most of which are in the Prado, Madrid. Contemporary sculptors, employed as restorers, added to the baroque feeling of the presentation and took inspiration for their own work. The gallery contributed to the aspirations of Odescalchi, who emphasized the provenance of his collection from Queen Christina of Sweden to enhance his position in Roman society.
