Identifies a group of nine prints, five by Jan Wierix and four anonymous copies of his work, which were used as illustrations for a missal published by Christopher Plantin in 1585. Shows that this group and other, similarly scaled religious prints were part of a series. On the basis of iconographic study and archival evidence, suggests that the series had been commissioned for a book of hours rather than a missal.
