Establishes, from restoration and stylistic analysis, that an ornamented violin (Bergen, Vestlandske kunstindustrimuseum) previously held to be by Gasparo da Salò and Benvenuto Cellini, was made in Brescia, ca.1550-1560, probably in the workshop of Girolamo Virchi. (The violin was previously in the collection of the 19th c. violinist Ole Bull).
