Abstract (en)

Follows the history 1984-1994 of a painting and pastel which appeared in 1985 signed "A. Edelfelt." Experts, conservators and the courts disagreed as to whether the works were genuine Edelfelts, or forgeries. Recent research revealed that the works were sold at auction in 1984 at which time they did not bear Edelfelt's signature. The painting, Norwegian Fisherman, was sold as a work by August Söderberg; the pastel, The Connoisseur, was sold as the work of Alf Wallander.
