Study of Botticelli's Primavera of 1478 (Florence, Uffizi). Dempsey returns the picture to Warburg's placement of it in the Latin and Tuscan poetic traditions. He treats the painting as a visual poem, finding meaning by establishing the literary and historical human contexts which by analogy approach most closely to the painting.
