- Surveys the numerous architectural, engineering, and city planning projects commissioned by Cardinal Farnese in Tuscia, 1555-1588, including numerous works of Vignola, especially Palazzo Farnese, Caprarola, for which a contract of 13 June 1559 has recently been discovered that identifies the builder as Battista di Domenico Petrono da Caorso. Focuses on the last work that the cardinal commissioned, the church of SS. Giacomo e Cristoforo on the Isola Bisentina, formerly attributed to Vignola, here assigned to Giovanni Antonio Garzoni on the basis of recently discovered documents dated Apr 1588, transcribed in the appendix.
